Özet:

Photographs serve as significant tools for the transmission of cultural heritage from the past to the future. Wedding photographs, in particular, enable the intergenerational transfer of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage values, fostering an increased awareness of cultural heritage. Through wedding photographs stored in collective memory, a deeper understanding of cultural heritages place within that memory is established. The objective of this research is to analyze wedding photographs to identify cultural heritage awareness and to highlight the role of these photographs in enhancing such awareness. Today, wedding photographs impact cultural heritage awareness both through direct experience and social sharing. For this purpose, collaborations were established with photography studios in Kütahya, which have shared the most content on social media over the past three years. Considering the high accessibility and influence of social media on users, data analysis and interviews with these studios were conducted to determine whether there were significant differences in location preferences for photography based on client preferences. It has been observed that, in recent years, couples have increasingly opted for outdoor photography over traditional studio shoots for their weddings. Among the preferred outdoor locations for wedding photography are green spaces, beaches, wedding venues, and cultural heritage sites. The findings reveal a significant increase in the experience and appreciation of cultural heritage through outdoor wedding photography. Given the role of wedding photographs in the collective memory, their dissemination via social media is considered to play a key role in raising cultural heritage awareness, driven by the influence of these platforms. This sharing incites curiosity within society, encouraging visits to heritage sites, fostering cultural heritage awareness, and contributing to the preservation, promotion, and development of these areas, particularly in terms of tourism. In conclusion, the immortalization of cultural heritage within wedding photographs and their transmission to future generations enhances the collective memory of cultural heritage.
