Özet:

The hazelnut plant, which is suitable for growing in humid climatic regions in terms of its geographical features, has started to be produced in Giresun for the first time in Turkey and has taken its place among the products that are important in the countrys foreign trade. Hazelnut, which has been known since ancient times and has a special place in the historical process, has now become an economic product for the Kahramanmaraş Kalekaya Neighborhood. In the study, it is aimed to increase the recognition and awareness of hazelnut production in Kalekaya in the region, to determine the contribution of hazelnut to the local economy and employment, and to reveal the problems encountered in the production process. In the study, a semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool, and the interviews with hazelnut producers were evaluated in tables. Participants stated that they learned hazelnut production from their grandfathers and that they were satisfied with this production, which has become a culture for many years. Productivity will increase with the correct use of fertilizer in hazelnut production in Kalekaya and its surroundings, which is a rural location. It is also thought that hazelnuts will create an important employment area in the region and reduce migration to surrounding provinces and districts.
