Özet:

India is a place that hosts the most ancient civilizations of history and attracts the attention of many societies from ancient times to the present. In particular, these lands have been the common living space of Turks and Indians for centuries. It is one of the states that ruled in India, in the Mughals. This state, due to its political and religious activities, reached its most powerful and widest borders during the period of Awrangzib. Awrangzib assumed the administration after a sultan like Ekber Shah, who established a new system called Din-i Divine, discriminated against Hindus and other groups, and distanced himself from Muslims. He tried to restore the rights taken from the Muslims and to control the Hindus and other groups to a certain extent. Due to his radical actions, Aurangzib was criticized both in his own time and even after centuries, and caused the formation of negative policies towards Muslims in todays India. Some researchers see Awrangzib as the most important element on the way to the destruction of the Mughals because of these actions. The article will attempt to examine some of these questions and, through them, reassess the socio-political challenges this sultan faced in his rule and how he responded to them. Primary and secondary sources were used in the research. The research framework was created with an objective approach to modern and historical literature, and the materials were analyzed about the religious policy of Awrangzib and how it influenced the weakening and final end of the Mughal power.
