Özet:

Sultan Baybars, unlike previous practices, decided to appoint a Qâdî al-Qudât from four Sunni sects for the first time in 1265. Following the implementation of this decision, members of the madhhabs struggled against each other while trying to gain influence within the state. This struggle was carried on especially among the Shafii and Hanafi madhhab followers, who were more dominant in the Mamluk State due to various factors; and carried out in various ways such as trying to increase the support of the madhhab, finding supporters and support among the administrators, and trying to establish a grounding at the intellectual level. By the middle of the 14th century, Damascus Hanafi Qâdî al-Qudât Najm al-Dîn al-Tarsûsî became involved in the struggle in favor of his own madhhab by writing a work called Tuḥfat al-Turk. While efforts in this direction were previously made relatively implicitly, they became openly disclosed with the aforementioned work. In this study, an effort was made to understand the process and purpose of writing Tuhfat al-Turk. For this purpose, firstly, a context was created by focusing on the political developments and the relations between the maddhabs, and then the aforementioned work was tried to be interpreted and evaluated within this context.
