Özet:

At the end of the War I, empires disintegrated and nation states were established in their place. Nation states which contain a homogenized mass within themselves, sometimes came into being by experiencing major ruptures. The Convention and Protocol Concerning the Exchange of Turkısh-Greek Populations agreement signed between Turkiye and Greece approved the compulsory exchange of Turks and Greeks on both sides. With this agreement which was the first of its kind in the world, a large-scale population exchange was carried out. The Turkish-Greek population exchange left deep scars on the masses by creating a rupture trauma with the great tragedies it created; it was an important breaking point for both states in terms of its political, social and ecanomic consequences. The exchange has a very rich social, political and historical material. This event, which affected approximately two million people was ignored for a long time in both Turkish and Greek cinema. Cinema, which is todays visual memory center is gaining increasing importance in remembering and understanding the past and also in confronting pain. Cinema plays a key role in remembering or coming to terms with the past, highlighting differences, reaching out to the masses who want to make their voices heard or disseminating new cultural values. Migration cinema is one of the most obvious areas of this. In parallel with the recent scientific studies on the subject and the increasing visibility of exchangees in society, cinema has put the exchange on its agenda. Exchange in cinema has been mostly revealed through the efforts of the third generation who were also exchangees. This research evaluates the fiction and documentary productions that bring up the exchange in Turkish-Greek cinema within their historical process. The study examines the topics under which the exchange was brought up in a branch of art such as cinema, which has a great mass power, the way it was handled, its social impact or the awareness it created in society and many other aspects. First and second hand sources, media, films and internet sources were used in the research.

I.Dünya Savaşı sonunda imparatorluklar dağılmış yerlerine ulus devletler kurulmuştur.
