Özet:

Learning to write French is as difficult for a native learner as it is for a non-native learner. Native learners also frequently make errors, both orally and in writing. Although there are many studies on the errors made by foreign students, there has not yet been any proper work done in Turkey on analysing the errors made by native speakers. Based on the idea that errors can be a creative tool in teaching French, we investigate their nature through the analysis of exam papers collected from native students at Dokuz Eylül University in Turkey during the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023. The main subject of our work is to analyse the errors made by native students in this process, to classify them, to identify their origin, to determine their role in learning and to formulate recommendations. Compared with foreign students, native speakers are more likely to make errors relating to the writing of homonyms. We have used Nina Catachs classification to develop our own typology of errors observed in native speakers.
