Özet:

In recent years, along with the general developments in the world, discussions on urban and urban security have attracted intense attention in Turkey. In particular, on the one hand, migration from rural to urban areas, the citys unique housing, transportation, infrastructure and environmental problems, on the other hand, the need for people living in cities to adapt to urban social and administrative rules, differentiation in lifestyles and social change factors have shown the need for different approaches to ensure peace and security in the city. Today, the issue of urban security has evolved into an approach that is based on the spatial design, planning and construction of the city by utilizing technology together with law enforcement measures without hindering fundamental and civil liberties. In this process, it is aimed to focus on the social and spatial conditions that create the conditions for the emergence of crimes in the city. In this context, the main research question of the study is to determine what is Turkeys situation on urban security in the context of urban and security approaches in the world. For this purpose, firstly, the importance of security in the concepts of city and urban management is analyzed. Subsequently, urban security and safe city approaches are evaluated and finally, the situation of cities in Turkey is determined in terms of safe city approach and legislation. The study aims to contribute to the development of approaches and legislation on cities and security in Türkiye.
