Özet:

This study aims to examine the theme of childhood in the thoughts and works of the Russian author L.N. Tolstoy 1828-1910. The author begins his literary journey with the topic of childhood and titles his first work Childhood. Initially, he is interested in the child as a person whose personality is still in the process of development. The child, who has not yet been influenced by his social environment, is depicted in Tolstoys thoughts as a pure, harmonious, and holistic being by nature. Childhood, Boyhood and Youth, which are considered somewhat autobiographical works, along with War and Peace, Anna Karenina and Resurrection, are analyzed to bring to light the distinct characteristics of childhood, the first period of human life. In addition to these works, Tolstoys diaries, notebooks and personal letters, which reflect his life reality and spiritual quest, are also included in this study. According to the authors thoughts, the good and pure qualities given to a person from birth are preserved in childhood, as part of human nature. When a child grows up and steps into the world of adults, he is exposed to the negative effects of the environment and begins to lose these qualities. Therefore, the author draws attention to the impact of the initial phase of human life on subsequent life stages. The main aim of this study is to analyze Tolstoys works and thoughts in detail, examining the concept of childhood and attempting to reflect the interaction process between children and adults from the authors perspective.
