Özet:

Mu’tazila is one of the first sectarian formations within the Islamic schools of thought that included reason as well as nass in interpreting the creed and took the name of Islamic Rationalism as a result of these methods. Zaydiyya, on the other hand, is a theological sect that emerged under the umbrella of Shia, outweighed its political aspect, and came to the forefront with its views on the mafdūl imamate. It is inevitable that these two groups, which emerged in the same geography and on close dates, have been in mutual interaction since the beginning of the second century of the hijra. The school, which took an active role in the interaction between the Mu’tazila and the Zaydiyya, became the Baghdad Mu’tazila, and the understanding of the mafdûl imamate was at the forefront of the issues involved in the interactive relation. In this context, in our study, firstly, the general lines of the Mu’tazilite response of the imamate/caliphate issue, which has an important place among the conflicts that started to emerge among the Muslims after the death of the Prophet, were emphasized. Then, Zaydiyya’s understanding of mafdūl imamate, in which the first manifestations of the understanding that the imamate of the mafdūl is valid, emerged, was scrutinized. Concordantly, the historical course of Mu’tazila's understanding of imamate, which was influenced by the Zaydī understanding of imamate and made this view more systematic, was examined. From this point of view, the equivalent of the understanding of imamate in Mu’tazila in the Baghdad school was discussed and the meaning of the idea gained with Abū al-Husayn al-Khayyāt and Abū al-Qasim al- Kā’bī, who were members of the Baghdad Mu’tazila, was examined. Like this, in our study, it has been concluded that Khayyāt and Kā’bī, who are closer to the idea of mafdūl imamate without Ali in terms of management, are closer to the group that does not try to see Abu Bakr as superior to Ali or Ali to Abu Bakr.
