Özet:

The aim of this study is to discuss how the Republic presented itself in Bafra, a provincial town in the Early Republican Era. In this context, the basic principles and foundations of the Republic are marked and their projections in Bafra are investigated. The Republics means of presenting itself, and within these means, Peoples Houses are the main place where this projection will be followed. Peoples Houses, which had a dominant importance in the Early Republican Period, are vital institutions for the founding cadres and political elites of the Republic. Peoples Houses are crucial since they represent the modern and civilized face of the Republic of Turkey, especially in the countryside. To understand how the Republic established its dominance in the Black Sea town of Bafra, the active Peoples House in Bafra must be transformed into an object of analysis. In this direction, the activities of Bafra Peoples House and especially the Bafra Peoples Houses magazine Altın Yaprak are at the centre of this study. In the study, articles about the modernizing and civilizing steps of the Republic, the 29 October Republic Day celebrations in Bafra, and the fundamental motives and pillars of the Republic are exemplified in the Bafra Peoples Houses magazine Altın Yaprak. The sources used are the Bafra Peoples House magazine Altın Yaprak as the primary source, and the studies conducted on the Bafra Peoples House as the secondary source.
