Özet:

Magical Realism is a literary genre that combines the contradictory concepts of magic and reality in harmony within its own essence. Although there are many different definitions of magical reality, emerged in Latin America and used first by Franz Roh for European painting in 1920, in general, it is the presentation of extraordinary events in the current world within the framework of historical fiction. Post-modern writers, after the world wars, conveyed social, political, historical and social changes to their readers with fairy-tale and mystical elements through the magical reality genre. The purpose of fiction in the magical reality genre is for the reader to reach the subtext without being caught up in the fairy-tale atmosphere, moving away from the narrative, and gaining an objective perspective without identifying with the characters. For this purpose, the alienation effect, developed by German dramatist Bertolt Brecht for the epic theater tradition, is also essential for magical reality fiction. Magic reality, which was used to criticize existing problems in world literature at the beginning of the 20th century, also took its place in womens literature with the rise of womens movements. The aim of this study is to scrutinize the novella Aşk Artık Burada Oturmuyor 1989 by Nazlı Eray, one of the pioneers of the magical reality genre in Turkish literature, in terms of narrative structure, time-space and characters. In the analysis part, it was investigated to what extent Eray used Brechts alienation effect technique in order to raise awareness of the problems in male-female relations. As a result of the study, it was concluded that Nazlı Eray, one of the leading female writers of Turkish literature, criticized the place and importance of women in a patriarchal society through irony and alienation in her fiction, which is considered an example of a magical reality novel.
