Özet:

The study aims to examine the relationship between childhood trauma and the transformative power of suffering. This research, designed as a correlational survey model within descriptive research methods, was conducted with 403 university students, including 229 females and 174 males. Data were collected using a Personal Information Form, the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire CTQ-33, and the Transformative power of suffering Scale. Independent Samples T-Test, One-Way ANOVA, and Pearsons Product-Moment Correlation were employed for data analysis. The findings revealed no significant difference between childhood trauma and gender; however, significant differences were found with socioeconomic status, psychological support, and psychiatric diagnosis. No significant differences were identified between the transformative power of suffering and variables such as gender, socioeconomic status, psychological support, or psychiatric diagnosis. A negative significant relationship was found between age and childhood trauma, while no significant relationship was found between age and the transformative power of suffering. Additionally, there was no significant relationship between participants denial of childhood trauma scores and the transformative power of suffering. A negative, statistically significant relationship was found between childhood trauma and the transformative power of suffering. The findings were discussed within the relevant literature, highlighting the importance of the transformative power of suffering in the counseling process with individuals who experienced childhood trauma, and several recommendations were made for mental health professionals.
