Özet:

Proverbs are one of the main products of folk literature in getting to know a society. Thousands of years of experiences of the people turn into sentences, expressing at most a few judgments, and reflect the society from which they were born. Kurdish proverbs are also the mirror of Kurdish culture and language. As in every community of humanity, the Kurdish people have transferred everything in their lives into proverbs through their language. Before modern times, two genders, male and female, were generally accepted in all societies. The roles of men and women in society are also separated from each other by the same society. Contemporary gender definitions such as LGBT-I are not seen as independent genders in Kurdish culture, but as abnormal behaviors of men and women. In this study, we classified the words containing gender and gender roles that we selected from printed Kurdish proverb books. After the classification, we looked for answers to the following questions. What kind of daughter or son does the Kurdish society want in the family? Which woman or man does he applaud and which woman or man does he condemn? To find answers to these questions, we used published works on Kurdish proverbs. We classified the two hundred and ninety-four 294 proverbs we selected from these sources according to their topics and meanings, and then, using the comparison method, we put forward our comments and judgments regarding Gender perception in Kurdish proverbs within the framework of family structure. When we look at the general picture that emerges, the roles that men and women are expected to undertake mostly appear within the family, therefore the system of our study is directly related to the shaping of the family.
