Özet:

In different cultures of different societies, there are general names and meanings of some days and nights that can be traced back in history. Used to express the longest night of the year, şeb-i yeldâ is one such concept. This concept was used extensively as an example of the cultural interaction between the classical Turkish and Persian poetry and became one of the means of narrative that was used to convey poetic emotions and thoughts. Şeb-i yeldâ, around which certain images were created and which acquired Sufistic meanings, has become widespread in recent years especially through poetry. In this discovery process, there is a need to put forth the said temporal definitions place and importance within the framework of classical poetry in detail. We know that şeb-i yeldâ occupied a certain place in both Turkish and Persian poetry as a type of discourse. In this study, the origins and place of this night in the Persian culture will be described and the meanings and manner it was used for will be determined in the light of examples from classical Turkish and Persian poetry. Through the study, the similarities and differences in the use of this expression by poets will be determined by comparison.
