Özet:

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the attitudes of students studying at Hakkari University towards sports tourism. Method: In this study, the relational screening model, one of the general screening models within the scope of quantitative research methods, was preferred. The relational screening model stands out as a design that aims to reveal the existing level of relationships between variables and allows for analyzing the direction and strength of these relationships. In this context, the relationships between students attitudes towards sports tourism and demographic and academic variables were systematically examined. The population of the study consisted of students studying at Hakkari University in the 2024-2025 academic year. The study sample consisted of 662 students, 410 female and 252 male, selected using the simple random sampling method, one of the probability sampling methods. The attitude towards sports tourism scale was used as the data collection tool in the study. The IBM SPSS Statistics 26 package program was used to analyze the data obtained in the study. During the statistical analysis process, normality analysis was first performed to evaluate the applicability of parametric tests. Within the scope of the research, frequency analysis was used to determine the distribution of the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants. T-test was used to examine the relationship between two independent variables and their attitudes towards sports tourism. One-way analysis of variance ANOVA was used to reveal the relationship between more than two independent variables and their attitudes towards sports tourism. The significance level between the variables was interpreted based on p0.05. Results: Research findings reveal that Hakkari University students attitudes toward sports tourism are generally high. Furthermore, it appears that students faculties and grades create significant differences in their attitudes toward sports tourism. Furthermore, students gender and age are similar in their attitudes toward sports tourism, with the youngest students having the highest attitudes. It is believed that attracting sports tourism-focused activities to the region will significantly contribute to the citys social, cultural, and economic well-being. Conclusion: The data obtained in the study show that the attitudes of the students towards sports tourism are at a high level and that they exhibit a general interest and positive approach towards this field.
