Özet:

A long-lasting social movement, the ʿAbbāsid revolution was supported by Arab tribes in the province of Iraq who opposed the Umayyads, as well as by Arab warriors who were assigned to the conquests of Khurāsān, Sīstān, Tukhāristān, and Transoxiana Mā Warā al-nahr, gradually settled in these regions over time, and forced to suppress various rebellions, along with the local Ajams in Khurāsān who were dissatisfied with Umayyad rule, and the Khārijite and Shīʿa factions. In this article, the relationship between the last Umayyad governor of Khurāsān, Abū al-Layth Naṣr ibn Sayyār ibn Rāfiʿ al-Laythī d. 131748, and the ʿAbbāsid revolution will be examined with a focus on the region of Transoxiana and the city of Marw. Despite Naṣrs vast experience, insight, and efforts, along with many positive actions and effective measures, the revolution ultimately succeeded. The study will concentrate on the internal and external elements that led to this outcome. The research aims to focus on this particular point. An informed assessment of later events is greatly enhanced by exploring the background of the ʿAbbāsid revolution, a breaking moment in history. Using the qualitative research method and narrative research technique, the study is limited to the Khurāsān region, the Māverānaynehir region, which does not seem to have given strong support to the revolutionary movement, and the relations between Naṣr b. Sayyār and Abū Muslim al-Khurāsānī fought for the domination of Khurāsān through the city of Marw. The research, based on primary sources and the principle of impartiality, aims to develop a critical perspective on the reasons for the fall of the Umayyads and the principles of the success of the ʿAbbāsid revolution. In a general sense, it can be said that the positive practices and measures put forward by Naṣr and his political and military activities could only delay the revolution from achieving its goal for a while. Claims that the Turkish elements settled in Khurāsān and Transoxiana contributed significantly to the revolution should be treated with caution.
