Özet:

The subject of this article is the scholarly life of the commentator Abū Bakr al-Rāzī d. 6661268, his contribution to the field of science and his position in the science of tafsīr. It has been stated that biographical books barely mention al-Rāzīs life, do not provide detailed information about his life, and therefore there is no definite information about his birth. On the other hand, some sources state that he started his journey of knowledge in Bukhara and Samarkand. His full name is Abū ʿAbdillāh Zayn al-Dīn Muḥammad b. Abī Bakr b. ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Rāzī. Born in Rey, he was a scholar of hadith, fiqh, theology and tafsir from Turkestan. After residing in Egypt and Damascus for a while, he travelled to Anatolia and stayed for a long time in Mardin, the province of the Artuqids within the borders of the Anatolian Seljuks, where he wrote some of his works. Al-Rāzī, who is accepted as a Hanafi jurist, is a member of the Māturīdī sect in the theological field. Al-Rāzī used the expression ahl al-ḥaqīqat for the Sufis. In addition, his friendship with Sadr al-Dīn al-Qūnawī d. 6731274 and his affection for him show his interest in Sufism. In Konya, where he spent the last part of his life, al-Rāzī read Ibn al-Asīrs d. 6061210 al-Jāmiʿ al-usūl from al-Sadr al-Dīn al-Qūnawī in 666 1267-68 and received an icazet to teach it. One of the most important documents of the exegetes life is that at the end of his work titled Garīb al-Qurān, he himself states that he completed the work in 10 Jumāz al-Jamāl al-Awwal 663 28 February 1265. The limits of this study are the scholarly life and works of the commentator al-Rāzī as well as his books that contributed to the field of tafsīr. The aim is to analyse the contribution of the authors books on tafsīr to the literature. As a result, the existence of a total of seven tafsir works in addition to his fame with his tafsir books titled Unmūzaj al-celīl Asilet al-Qurʾān and Garīb al-Qurʾān shows his vast knowledge in the field of tafsir.
