Özet:

Fatimids and Qarmatians, who belong to Ismailia, one of the extreme branches of Shia, have been in conflict with each other throughout history, even though they belong to the same sect. The imamate debates within the sect prevented the Fatimis and Qarmatians from uniting under the same roof and caused them to display a hostile attitude towards each other. When the two sides confronted each other politically and militarily. The attitude, which showed itself as secret hostility until the second half of the IV. AH X. CE century, turned into an open struggle when Caliph Muizz captured the Syrian lands in 359 970. There was a fierce competition between the two sides facing each other in the lands of Egypt, Palestine and Syria. Although the Fatimids, who represent the main body of the sect, frequently tried to ensure the obedience of the Qarmatians, they had serious difficulties in doing so. However, when they established political and military dominance over the Qarmatians, they were able to achieve their partial obedience. The aim of this study, in which we discuss Fatimid-Qarmatian political and military relations, will be to reveal the impact of the division within the Ismailiyya sect on bilateral relations in the following period.
