Özet:

The Battle of Borodino has an important place in the Russian resistance against Napoleon. Similarly, during the National Struggle, the Battle of Sakarya is the battle in which the Turkish Army put an end to the advance of the Greek Army. Although these two defence battles ended differently, they are important events in the resistance of the two nations against foreign invaders. Although the Russians could not defeat Napoleon at the Battle of Borodino 7 September 1812, they managed to retreat in an orderly manner and maintain resistance. Subsequently, Napoleons overstaying in Moscow and being exposed to an early and severe winter during the retreat caused the French Army to be devastated. In a way, this event started the collapse of the Napoleonic Empire. The Battle of Sakarya 23 August 1921 - 13 September 1921 took place in a very different way. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who commanded the Turkish Army, which was weak and demoralised against its rival in terms of the number of soldiers and military equipment, managed to stop the advance of the Greek Army. This event is one of the most important breaking moments of the National Struggle. In this study, the military strategy followed by the Russian forces against the superior French Army and the results of the war were evaluated. On the other hand, the Battle of Sakarya was analysed and it was examined how the Turkish Army managed to stop the Greek Army, which was much better than itself on paper. Finally, the two wars are compared militarily and through the traces they left in history.
