Özet:

This research was carried out to determine the factors that are effective in the reasons for choosing the teaching profession of the graduates of theology faculty. The fundamental motivation for this research is the belief that there may be a variety of reasons why religion teaching, which is viewed as a sustainable profession owing to its quantity of employment options, social prestige, and other factors, piques the interest of theology faculty graduates. Furthermore, the research will demonstrate the narrowing situation in the possible employment opportunities of higher religious education, and the thesis that theology faculties, whose primary function is to train qualified clergy, will eventually transform into teacher training institutions will be tested. The sample of the research, which is in the descriptive survey model, consists of 1033 people who graduated in 2019 or earlier and still do not work as a teacher. The cluster sampling method was used and the data were collected using the Reasons for Preferring the Teaching Profession Scale developed by Övet. With this study, which strives to present meaningful scientific data to the education literature. It is expected that this study will increase the quality of religious education offered to the society and contribute to the discussion of employment in higher religious education.
