Özet:

The increasing prevalence of next-generation communication technologies has significantly diversified the means through which news content is accessed. Online media is predominantly preferred by readers due to its capacity for real-time updates and its independence from temporal and spatial constraints. Moreover, the interactive nature of online platforms facilitates a high degree of user participation through content generation and dissemination, user commentary, and enabling deliberative engagement. In addition to these participatory affordances, digital affordancessuch as multimedia integration, personalized content delivery, and media convergencefurther drive user engagement. Within this framework, the present study utilizes the Similarweb application to evaluate the website performance metrics of online newspapers and to conduct competitive analysis. The research also aims to investigate how users web navigation behaviors influence the overall performance of these digital news outlets. The findings indicate that Hürriyet and Sözcü demonstrate the highest performance levels among the newspapers analyzed. The study generated data on various metrics, including website traffic, geographic sources of engagement, time spent per visit, demographic profiles of readers, and social media-driven traffic, all of which were analyzed through the method of content analysis. The results suggest that certain demographic characteristics of the readership shape patterns of news consumption. Furthermore, it was found that social media platforms positively impact the volume of traffic directed to online newspapers. Another noteworthy finding of the study is the remarkable similarity in user browsing patterns across various digital news platforms. By elucidating the dynamics of user interaction with digital news interfaces, this research offers a novel perspective on the evolving paradigm of online journalism.
