Özet:

This article focuses on the life and collections of İhsan Altay from Kastamonu, Araç and the life and poems of Kastamonu Ashik Haykurî. İhsan Altay lived between 1909-1942. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Language, History and Geography, which he started in 1936, in 1941. With the arrival of Pertev Naili Boratav to the faculty in 1938, there was an acceleration in folklore research, especially in collections. Boratav had his students prepare collections along with himself. İhsan Altay is at the forefront of these. Unfortunately, he could not evaluate the collections he made in the 1940s due to his early death. After his death, his collections were donated to the DTCF archive. Mehmet Tuğrul, the first doctor in the field of Folk Literature, used his collections in his doctoral thesis, and Pertev Naili Boratav used them in various works. These collections are currently in the Pertev Naili Boratav Archive, which is in the Turkish Economic and Social History Foundation. This article also provides information about the life and poems of Kastamonu Ashik Haykırî, whose name has been heard before but whose life we do not have full information about. Ashik Haykırîs real name is Hüseyin. He lived in the village of Kıyık in Kastamonu between 1887-1953 and took the surname Haykırlı after 1934. Hüseyin Haykırlı emulated the art of minstrelsy and traveled to the surrounding villages and districts with his nine-fret saz, both practicing his art and making a living. Hüseyin Haykırlı, who used the pen name Haykırî or Haykırî, was an illiterate saz poet, but he was successful in improvisation. In addition to his mastery of the saz, it is understood that he also knew the modes and methods of the minstrel very well. When we look at the poems in general, we see that they resemble folk songs or long songs. Expressions such as amann, of at the beginning of the verses are common words in folk songs and long songs. Again, the refrains repeated at the end of the poem make them similar to folk songs. In his poems, Haykuri talks about the pain of love, sorrow, grief, separation, spending his life suffering, losing his youth, and the ruthlessness of his lovers. He spent his life chasing after beauty. In this respect, we can compare him to Karacaoğlan. These poems do not have much literary importance. There is no specific meter in the poems, but rhyme is observed. With this article, the life of a completely unknown compiler, namely İhsan Altay, has been brought to light, and the life and poems of Ashik Haykurî, about whom we have no information other than his name, have been identified.
