Özet:

With the proclamation of the Republic on October 29, 1923, changes began to occur in political, human, social and economic fields in Turkey. In the first years of the Republic, attempts were made to promote the changes taking place in Turkey. One of these attempts was the films shot to promote Turkey both at home and abroad. In addition to Turkey, foreign directors from different countries during this period also wanted to record the changes experienced in Turkey with the declaration of the Republic and therefore make films about Turkey. This study deals with the requests for films about Turkey from foreign countries in the Early Republican Period, the steps taken to promote Turkey abroad through films, and Turkeys promotional films. The data obtained in the study was provided by the document analysis method. In this context, within the scope of the study, the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey State Archives, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism film archive, films, books, and articles related to the subject were used. In the study, it was seen that efforts to promote Turkey through films did not always result positively, some films could not be shot due to various reasons, or some existing films could not be sent abroad. It has been found out that the films shown make positive contributions to Turkey and its image by providing information about the Turkish people and the progressive moves made in Turkey.
