Özet:

This study examines the moderating effect of employees conscientiousness on the relation between organizational cynicism and their serious cyberloafing behavior. The studys dataset comprised 229 questionnaires collected from specialists and assistant specialists employed in the central units of a ministry in Ankara. The data entry and analyses for this research were conducted using SPSS software and the ModGraph-I program. This study utilized the analyses of exploratory factor, internal consistency, correlation and regression. Subsequently, the regression curves were plotted using the Excel 2010 version of the ModGraph-I program. The results indicate that, among the participants, organizational cynicism significantly and positively influences employees serious cyberloafing behavior. Moreover, as employees conscientiousness increases from low to high, the positive impact of organizational cynicism on their serious cyberloafing behavior diminishes. Conversely, as employees conscientiousness decreases from high to low, the positive effect of organizational cynicism on their serious cyberloafing behavior increases. In other words, conscientiousness acts as a moderator variable within the framework of this studys established mechanism. In conclusion, the study suggests that enhancing civil servants conscientiousness can help reduce the detrimental impact of cyberloafing on public institutions. This can be achieved by mitigating the amplifying effect of organizational cynicism on serious cyberloafing behavior.
