Özet:

The years 2011-2016 represent a deep crisis and reconstruction process in Turkish-Israeli relations. During this period, the Mavi Marmara incident and Turkeys support for Palestine strained relations, while Israel accused Turkey of supporting terrorism. The Arab Spring, the Syrian civil war and Irans regional influence brought the interests of the two countries into conflict. However, the normalization process that began with Israels apology to Turkey in 2013 progressed with the compensation agreement in 2016. Common security concerns such as the threat from Syria and Iran encouraged the reconstruction of relations. Despite diplomatic crises, the potential for cooperation in areas such as trade, energy and security continued. The period 2016-2022 was a critical period in terms of normalization and cooperation in Turkish-Israeli relations. During this period, the parties evaluated opportunities for cooperation in areas such as energy, economy, defense and tourism. Diplomatic ties that were disrupted after the Mavi Marmara crisis were reestablished in 2016 with the mutual appointment of ambassadors. Energy cooperation, in particular, has come to the fore in terms of regional stability and economic gains. Natural gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean, combined with Turkeys geographical advantages, have created a strategic opportunity for the parties. High-level visits in 2022 have accelerated the normalization of relations and initiated a period in which mutual interests are prioritized.
