Özet:

In this article, a thematic analysis of the panegyric composed by Ibn al-Rūmī, a poet from the Abbasid era, for Abd al-Malik, a member of the Abbasid dynasty, is planned to be conducted. This analysis delves into the intricate layers of Ibn al-Rūmīs panegyric, a form of poetic expression that holds a prominent place in Arabic literary tradition, particularly during the Abbasid era. The subject of this study is to explore the thematic elements within the panegyric, revealing how Ibn al-Rūmī utilizes language and imagery to construct a narrative that is both laudatory and critically insightful. The scope of the research extends to understanding the panegyric within the context of its historical and cultural backdrop, making it crucial to comprehend the societal norms, values, and expectations of the Abbasid era. This approach provides a deeper understanding of the texts significance, transcending beyond mere praise to offer a commentary on the sociopolitical dynamics of the time. It should be highlighted that the existing historical records offer scant details about the relationship between Ibn al-Rūmī and Abd al-Malik b. Ṣāliḥ, indicating a lack of comprehensive information on this topic in current documentation. The importance of this study lies in its contribution to the field of classical Arabic literature, particularly in understanding the role and evolution of panegyrics within this literary tradition. Through the analysis of Ibn al-Rūmīs work, this research highlights the complex nature of composing panegyrics. It provides an understanding of the detailed relationship between the poet, the individual being praised in the poem, and the financial reward given to the poet. The method adopted in this research involves a close textual analysis of the poem, focusing on dissecting its themes to gain a deeper understanding.
