Özet:

Earthquake is a phenomenon seen in different geographies since the existence of the world. Although it is mentioned that it causes more damage due to its destructive effect on people and the economy, it is a useful and necessary natural event for the transformation of the earth. The increase in the number of earthquakes in our country in the last few years has led to the acceleration of scientific studies on earthquakes. Since earthquake is a multidimensional phenomenon, it is handled in the field of study of many sciences. Earthquake is a phenomenon that is also discussed in the Quran. Since the main purpose of the Quran is the guidance of people, earthquakes are also discussed in this context in Quran. Due to this purpose, it is seen that the earthquake is not considered as a scientific phenomenon, except for the information given in the Quran about the moving structure of the Earth. The fact that the earthquake is mostly mentioned as a means of destruction of the ancient tribes in the Quran has caused the earthquake to be perceived as a punishment element in both Quranic studies and religious discourses. The fact that the Arabs have information about ancient tribes due to both the information in the divine books and the historical information gives to us a clue about why earthquakes are given so much place in the Quran. The first interlocutors of the Quran are intimidated by an accident that they know about and are afraid to happen to them, regardless of whether it is considered in terms of historical knowledge and punishment. Earthquakes are mentioned in the Quran in a figurative and literal sense. In the Quran, earthquake is mentioned metaphorically in terms of shaking people physically and psychologically. In the true sense, it is also mentioned in the Quran to show the gravity of the work, as a means of punishment, as an element of threat and as an element of the apocalypse. The fact that earthquakes are mostly mentioned in the Quran in the Doomsday narratives show that the earthquake is reveals as a threat for deniers and as a warning for believers, reminding them of Allahs power and responsibility towards him. In this study, which was prepared with the document analysis model of the qualitative research method, it is aimed to make a contribution to the field by examining the information given by the Quran about the earthquake.
