Özet:

Throughout the centuries-long journey of Turkish language and culture, a rich vocabulary has been accumulated regarding arrows and archery, which have an important place in both the social and cultural lives of the Turks and their military and political spheres. In this field, every detail has been given importance and a new term has been coined for every object and action. The arrow, which is so important for the Turks, was reflected in their language, and terms related to arrows and archery have appeared in works in every period of the Turkish language since the Orkhon Inscriptions. In this study, it was examined how the vocabulary related to arrows and archery was reflected in the works belonging to the historical periods of the Turkish language Orkhon Turkish, Old Uyghur Turkish, Karakhanid Turkish, Khwarezmian Turkish and Kipchak Turkish, and it was tried to testify where the 238 identified terms appeared in the works with text fragments, The pageleaf numbers of these examples are indicated. In addition, these terms obtained from historical texts, according to their subjects, include general terms related to arrows, types of arrows, terms related to parts of arrows, general terms related to bows, types of bows, terms related to parts of bows, materials used in making bows and arrows, archery. They were classified under the headings of professional names related to archery, terms used for arrow and bow cases, technical terms related to archery, injuries to the hands due to arrow shooting errors, and verbs related to archery, and the origins of the terms that are not of Turkish origin are indicated and the suffixes they received are shown.
