Özet:

After the Industrial Revolution, women increased their efforts to be visible in society and struggled more to take part in business and working life. This study examines the situation of women in business life from the perspective of economic geography. The study aims to address the sectoral-regional-spatial differentiation of female employment in Türkiye. Our study adopted the quantitative research method. In our study, employment data obtained from the Social Security Institution was used. Data covering the period between 2004 and 2020 were analyzed descriptively. To prevent problems that may arise from the use of long-term data, time series analysis was made and female employment in Türkiye was examined by dividing it into three periods. Location Coefficient analysis was conducted to determine the densitiy of female employment on a sectoral and regional scale. The findings obtained from the analysis were mapped with the help of the ArcGIS 10.5 program Accordingly, it has been determined that women are more employed in sub-activity branches of the service sector. On a regional scale, it has been observed that female employment is mostly concentrated in the western regions of the country, but concentration levels have also increased in other regions of the country in the period from 2004 to 2020. As a result, it has been revealed that female employment and mens employment are converging at the regional level.
