Özet:

One of the largest unresolved economic problems in Turkey is the phenomenon of inflation. Inflation can have negative effects on society, both for producers and consumers. Particularly, recent economic, social, and political developments have been affecting inflation both directly and indirectly. Inflation poses a significant challenge for national economies. The aim of this study is to analyze the inflation of household consumption expenditures in 12 goods and service categories for Turkeys IBSS 26 sub-regions within the framework of the convergence hypothesis. This study, conducted for 26 sub-regions at the IBSS level 2 in Turkey, utilizes inflation values for 12 goods and service categories between 2005 and 2021. The time-series data have been obtained from the Turkish Statistical Institute TUIK. In the analysis, the System GMM Model is employed for dynamic panel data analysis. According to the results of the unconditional convergence hypothesis analysis, it has been determined that convergence exists in the inflation of food and non-alcoholic beverages, health, communication, and education among the 12 goods and service categories.
