 The aim of this research is to examine the factors that prevent individuals living in Muğla Menteşe from participating in recreational activities. The research is a quantitative research designed as a descriptive and relational survey model and using the questionnaire technique. The questionnaire form consists of two sections. In the first section Personal Information Form and in the second section Leisure Constraits Scale is located. In the first part of the questionnaire, there are questions that determine the socio-demographic structure prepared by the researchers, while in the second part, a survey which was developed by Alexandris and Carroll 1997, was adopted to Turkish by Karaküçük and Gürbüz 2006 and the construct validity of the short form was tested by Gürbüz et al. 2020 Leisure Constraits Scale was used. After the frequency of the research data was taken, reliability and normality analysis were performed. Accordingly, it was seen that the research data were reliable and showed a normal distribution between 1 and -1. For this reason, parametric tests were applied to the research data. According to the findings, a significant difference was found in the gender, marital status and child status of the individuals participating in the research, as well as the lack of knowledge, facility, time and interest as the sub-dimensions of LCS. On the other hand, a significant difference was found between the ages, daily leisure time, exercise status of the individuals and LCS. In conclusion, as the daily leisure time of individuals decreases, the barriers to participation in recreational activities increase.

 Bu araştırmanın amacı Muğla Menteşede yaşayan bireylerin rekreasyonel faaliyetlere katılımını engelleyen faktörlerin incelenmesidir. Araştırma betimsel ve ilişkisel tarama modeli olarak tasarlanmış olup anket tekniğinin kullanıldığı nicel bir araştırmadır. Anket formu iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde Kişisel Bilgi Formu ve ikinci bölümde Boş Zaman Engelleri Ölçeği yer almaktadır. Anketin ilk bölümünde araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan sosyo-demografik yapıyı belirleyici sorular yer alırken, ikinci bölümünde ise Alexandris ve Carroll 1997 tarafından geliştirilmiş, Karaküçük ve Gürbüz 2006 tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan ve Gürbüz ve ark. 2020 tarafından kısa formunun yapı geçerliliği test edilen Boş Zaman Engelleri Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin frekansı alındıktan sonra güvenirlik ve normallik analizi yapılmıştır. Buna göre araştırma verilerinin güvenilir ve 1 ile -1 aralığında normal dağılım gösterdiği görülmüştür. Bu nedenle araştırma verilerine parametrik testler uygulanmıştır. Bulgularına göre araştırmaya katılan bireylerin cinsiyetleri, medeni durumları ve çocuk durumları ile BZEÖ alt boyutları olan bilgi eksikliği, tesis, zaman ve ilgi eksikliğinde anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Diğer yandan araştırmaya katılan bireylerin yaşları, günlük serbest zaman durumları ve egzersiz durumları ile BZEÖ arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak, bireylerin günlük serbest zamanları azaldıkça rekreatif aktivitelere katılım engelleri artmaktadır.
