Özet:

Foundations are among the most deep-rooted and functional institutions of Islamic civilization. Foundations have played a leading role in the provision of religious, educational, religious order, municipal and cultural services. Women, as well as men, have established foundations to the extent of their means. The Güzide HanımWoman bint. Abdullah Foundation, which resided in the İne Bey Neighbourhood of Manastir Bitola in 12861870, has a special feature. es-Seyyid Mehmed Vecihi Efendi Gentleman freed Güzide Hanım while she was his concubine and married her. From this marriage, they had a daughter named Şerife Demir, but their daughter died at a young age. The document clearly states that after her daughters death, some of her mothers property was inherited by her. Güzide Hanım found it appropriate to spend the savings she inherited from her husband and daughter on charity. In the foundation established by this lady, bread was provided to students studying in the 9 madrasahs in Manastir and students engaged in the science of recitation for three months, and bread was also distributed to the poor without distinction between Muslims and non-Muslims during the month of Ramadan. She appointed the Atik Old Madrasah lecturer Mehmed Efendi to the duties of giving mevlid, miraciye, aşr-ı şerif, sermons and advice at İshakiye Mosque, and she undertook the maintenance costs of the ablution fountains and fountains of the aforementioned mosque, as well as the repair of the Boyacılar Bridge, the fountains and fountains of the New Mosque, and the salary of the muezzin of the Besim Paşa Mosque were financed from her foundation. After her death, she allocated the mansion she lived in to the use of the Manastir Muftis. Of the structures supported by Güzide Hanıms own income and the foundation she established, only İshakiye Mosque and Yeni Mosque have survived to the present day, while other structures have been demolished and removed over time. Güzide Hanım Foundation will be evaluated in light of the data in the foundation charter and other archive documents.
