Özet:

During the First World War, the last major battle on the Caucasian Front between the Ottoman Empire and Tsarist Russia took place. Tsarist Russias Russian Caucasian Army faced off against the Ottoman Empires Third Army on this front. Despite the Third Armys extraordinary defense, the Russian Caucasian Army occupied Erzurum on February 16, 1916. Immediately after the occupation of the city, the Russian Caucasian Army carried out a general cleanup, disinfecting streets, alleys, and houses in Erzurum. Tsarist Russia implemented the administrative and management practices it had experienced in various geographies during the nearly two-year period it stayed in Erzurum. In addition to establishing a Temporary Military Administration in Erzurum, it conducted numerous activities in science, culture, urban development, and commerce. Scientists from various Russian universities who came to Erzurum documented the citys historical structures and researched its subterranean and surface resources. In Erzurum, a strategically important location on the Caucasian Front, Tsarist Russia built new fortifications and roads. Additionally, merchants from various Russian cities came to Erzurum to conduct trade activities. Russian reporters who visited the city conveyed their observations of social life to the newspaper pages as part of a propaganda effort. Russian soldiers stationed in Erzurum also established their own social and cultural spaces within the city. Russian soldiers in Erzurum followed local developments through military newspapers published in the city. The revolutions that took place in Tsarist Russia in 1917 were joyfully received by the Russian troops stationed in Erzurum. The Erzurum garrison of the Russian Caucasian Army became a center for Bolshevik supporters. Following the Treaty of Erzincan on December 18, 1917, the Russian Caucasian Army withdrew from Erzurum. This study comprehensively addresses the various activities carried out in Erzurum under Tsarist Russian occupation, drawing on contemporary Russian newspapers, scientific periodicals, and relevant Russian and Turkish research as sources.

Birinci Dünya Savaşı yıllarında Osmanlı Devleti ile Çarlık Rusya arasında Kafkas Cephesinde son büyük savaş yaşanmıştır. Çarlık Rusyanın Rus Kafkas Ordusu ile Osmanlı Devletinin 3. Ordusu bu cephede karşı karşıya gelmiştir. 3.
