Özet:

Climate change is the issue that occupies the international agenda the most among environmental problems. Increases in greenhouse gas emissions cause the climate crisis. There are significant increases in greenhouse gas emissions as a result of human activities such as fossil fuel use, agricultural activities, deforestation, and the increase in methane and carbon dioxide that increased with the industrial revolution. The environment is a global public good. Its harms, as well as its benefits, affect all humanity. For this reason, the effects of climate change are a global problem because they transcend the borders of countries. Many international and local agreements are being made within the scope of combating climate change. Another common step taken globally in the fight against climate change is the implementation of Carbon Tax. With the carbon tax to be applied, it is aimed to minimize the amount of carbon dioxide that harms the environment by taxing fossil fuels containing carbon dioxide. In this study, answers were sought to the questions of why a carbon tax is needed and what type of tax a carbon tax is.
