Özet:

Yearbooks, which are published once a year, are derived from the Persian word sal meaning year and were first published in 1847 during the Ottoman Empire Period. Yearbooks are of great significance because they cover events related to the year and period in which they were published. In this respect, the tradition of publishing yearbooks inherited from the Ottoman Empire continued in the Republic Period. The first yearbook of the Republic Period, containing data for the years 1925-1926, was published in 1926. Following that, other yearbooks covering the years 1926-1927 and 1927-1928 were published. It is possible to access detailed and accurate data both about the Ottoman Empire Period and the first years of the Republic in yearbooks. Yearbooks are the main sources especially used in city history studies. In the present study, the administrative, social-cultural and economic situation of Diyarbakır province in the first years of the Republic was aimed to be revealed by using yearbooks. The study was prepared based on three yearbooks published in 1925 and 1928. Along with the yearbooks related to the subject matter, some archive documents and copyrighted works were also consulted.
