Özet:

The main objective of this study is to see whether the fundamental principles of architecture that are included in the literature of the discipline have any correspondence in the Neolithic Period settlements of Anatolia. The most important motivation for the study is to identify whether the people of the Neolithic Period, who are less developed that modern humans, were conscious in their production of architecture as they transitioned to settled life. The study adopts the opinion that the basic principles of architecture might have been discovered due to inherent basic urges instead of through a development in humanity, and therefore the Neolithic Period people also might have also these principles. With this starting point, the study examines the main theories on the fundamental principles of architecture historically, the social structure and belief systems of the Neolithic Period which effects the morphological and semantic structures, the Neolithic Period structure types shaped with these systems and the structure types within the scope of the fundamental principles of architecture. As a result of the analysis it was found that there is a correspondence of the fundamental principles of architecture in the examined Neolithic Period settlements although not with their current detailed meanings, but at a basic level.
