Preparation of Drama Lesson Plans on Nature and the Universe and Student Opinions About the Application

 In this study, the opinions of 27 teachers and 342 students were obtained to determine the methods used by course instructors in teaching topics related to nature and the universe, which have an important place in social studies and Turkish classes. It was found that the methods used are primarily transfer-based. In contrast to the transfer-based methods, in this context, the effects of using the drama method, in which students take an active role in the learning process, as a method on topics related to nature and the universe were investigated, and the effects of this process in terms of students views were studied through applications. The application process, which was planned as three sessions, was planned by the researchers, and the applications were conducted in two different public schools with a total of 38 students. At the end of the implementation process, the principles to be considered in developing lesson plans for the drama method were established by the consensus of the researchers and presented in the form of objects. The study was conducted according to the principles of the qualitative method in the form of a case study. Semi-structured interviews and questionnaires were used as data collection instruments. The obtained data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. The statistical information is presented in tables by creating themes and coding on students views on drama practice. The coding in line with the answers given by the students to the teaching process performed with the drama method was combined under the themes of learning, nature and universe, environmental problems, and feelings. It was found that students described the process as increasing memorability, providing concrete life experiences, contributing to understanding and original thinking, and being enjoyable and entertaining. Under the obtained findings, recommendations on conducting studies to investigate the effects of teaching with the drama method and other subjects in social studies and Turkish language classes concerning different variables, expanding the drama course, and increasing the number and accessibility of drama training for teachers are provided.

 Araştırmada Sosyal bilgiler ve Türkçe dersi öğretiminde önemli bir yer tutan doğa ve evren ile ilgili konuların öğretiminde ders öğretmenlerinin kullandığı yöntemleri belirlemek amacıyla 27 öğretmen ve 342 öğrenci görüşü alınmıştır. Kullanılan yöntemlerin çoğunlukla aktarım temelli yöntemler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda aktarım temelli yöntemlerin aksine öğrencinin öğrenme sürecinde aktif rol aldığı drama yönteminin doğa ve evren ile ilgili konularda bir yöntem olarak kullanılmasının oluşturacağı etkiler merak konusu olmuş ve uygulamalar yapılarak bu sürecin etkileri öğrenci görüşleri açısından incelenmiştir. Üç oturum olarak planlanan uygulama süreci araştırmacılar tarafından planlanmış, toplamda 38 öğrenci ile farklı iki devlet okulunda uygulamalar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Uygulama sürecinin sonunda drama yöntemi ders planlarının hazırlığı sürecinde dikkat edilmesi gereken ilkeler araştırmacıların görüş birliği ile belirlenmiş ve maddeler halinde sunulmuştur. Araştırma nitel yöntem ilkeleri doğrultusunda durum çalışması deseniyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve anket kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz yöntemeri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Drama uygulamasına yönelik öğrenci görüşleri ile ilgili temalar ve kodlamalar oluşturularak istatistiki bilgiler tablolar halinde sunulmuştur. Öğrencilerin drama yöntemi ile gerçekleştirilen öğretim sürecine yönelik verdikleri cevaplar doğrultusunda yapılan kodlamalar; öğrenme, doğa ve evren, çevre sorunları ve hissedilenler temaları altında birleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin süreci; akılda kalıcılığı arttıran, somut yaşantı deneyimleri sunan, anlama ve özgün düşünmeye katkı sağlayan, mutluluk verici ve eğlenceli olarak nitelendirdikleri belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda Sosyal bilgiler ve Türkçe öğretiminde drama yöntemi ile başka konuların öğretiminin farklı değişkenler açısından etkilerini inceleyecek çalışmalar yapılması, drama dersinin yaygınlaştırılması, öğretmenlere yönelik drama eğitimlerinin sayısının ve ulaşılabilirliğinin arttırılması yönünde önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
