Özet:

The 18th century, dominated by Rococo art, also marks the Age of Enlightenment and rationalism as symbolized by Immanuel Kants phrase Dare to know. Commedia dellArte, which features distinct characters and humorous elements, originated from an ancient form of Italian improvisational theatre. It was revived during the Renaissance period in the 16th century. These characteristic theatrical archetypes were brought to life again in the masterpieces of German porcelain factories during their golden age in the 18th century. Porcelain figurines inspired by Commedia dellArte are sculptural figures that symbolize fixed personality types or social classes with their extravagant costumes and behavioral traits. Decorated with vibrant colors and detailed embellishments, these artworks were used decoratively in lavish palaces and banquet tables and were considered symbols of social status due to their aesthetic and material value. This study aims to examine significant German porcelain factories that produced Commedia dellArte-themed figurines during the Rococo period as well as focus on porcelain artists who specialized in this theme. The analysis includes leading German factories such as Meissen, Höchst, Nymphenburg alongside a detailed review of masterpieces created by artists working at these factories. The methodology involves evaluating art history literature with an emphasis on porcelain history through international books obtained from global porcelain museums, collection catalogs, academic articles, national books; utilizing various digital libraries and art history databases for a comprehensive literature review. As part of this research, data visuals writings gathered from museum visits across Europe have been incorporated into visual analysis processes. This approach allows for comparative commentary on stylistic differences and similarities among various factories Commedia dellArte figurines.
