Özet:

This research examines Türkiyes international trade in high technology products between 2002 and 2023 in detail within the framework of intra-industry trade analysis. The study analyzed trade data based on different SITC codes covering high-tech products. The findings show that Türkiye faced a serious deficit in trade in high technology products in this period. This deficit is approximately 587 billion dollars. Additionally, the study reveals an increasing trend observed over time in Türkiyes trade in high-tech products. This increasing trend may indicate that Türkiyes competitiveness in the high-tech products segment of international trade is increasing. The results of the research provide a valuable resource for understanding the current situation in Türkiyes high-tech product trade and shaping future strategies. Since Türkiyes performance in this field plays a decisive role in its general competitiveness and foreign trade balance, it is thought that the current research results may have significant impacts on economic development policies at local and global levels. Within the scope of the study, the reasons for the increase in Türkiyes exports of high technology products between 2002 and 2023 are examined in detail. It is thought that increasing Türkiyes international competitiveness in this field can reduce the trade deficit and provide significant benefits to the Turkish economy. Therefore, the current study evaluates the role of these macroeconomic variables in order to understand the reasons for the increase in exports of high technology products and to develop strategies to reduce Türkiyes foreign trade deficit. The Grubel-Lloyd index, which is the most frequently used index in the literature, was used in the data analysis of this study. Although the Grubel-Lloyd index has been criticized for some of its shortcomings, it is a frequently preferred method for showing a countrys comparative advantage structure and international competitiveness.
