Özet:

In the Holy Quran, the concept of eternity is generally mentioned within the framework of the eternity of heaven and hell. For the expression of eternity, the words أبدا eternal and خالدين khalidîne are generally preferred. أبدا is connotative of long timeeternityad-dahr lexicographically. Likewise, the verb khalede خلد has a wider range of meanings in lexicons, such as perseverance, eternity, or standing somewhere. While these verbums are not equivalent of each other in Holy Qurans language register due to various meanings both refer to, it is noteworthy thatthe two wordages are generally translated into Turkish to express eternity as if they were equivalent. In this study, their semantics in the two poems, lexicons and the Holy Quran are revisited. To this end, this paper focuses on someother referents of the words abad and khulud that do not refer to eternity.
