Özet:

Extract The phenomenon of crime, which is one of the elements that the state struggles to protect the social order, has been encountered in every period of history. While many factors play a role together in the formation of crime, factors such as poverty, unemployment, increasing inflation rates and socio-economic levels of individuals have come to the fore. Murder, which puts an end to human life by separating from all crimes that deeply affect human life, has emerged as an important element to be emphasized. Because no crime has directly ended human life, except murder, which has continued to be committed from the oldest ages of history to the present day. While the desire to have something without making any effort or deserving has manifested itself since the day of humanitys existence, one of the easiest ways to realize this desire has been theft. In general, it has been observed that there is a close link between theft and poverty. The war years, especially the Second World War, turned the world economy upside down and deeply affected the lives of societies. In this respect, the period of the Second World War, in which the economic collapse was felt deeply, was the time period when many crime phenomena such as theft and murder increased. Where the effects of the Second World War were felt, this situation was frequently mentioned in the newspapers of the period while there was an increase in theft and murder cases in Turkey. Cumhuriyet Newspaper, which continues its publication life today, was published daily during the Second World War. Crimes, especially important events of the period, were frequently included in the newspaper. Thus, Cumhuriyet Newspaper, one of Turkeys well-established newspapers, constituted a rich source while investigating the theft and murder cases. According to the characteristics of the period, there was a change in the news of theft and murder events in the content of the newspaper. In this article, while examining the theft and murder incidents reflected in Cumhuriyet Newspaper, it was tried to prove that it increased with the deteriorating socio-economy during the Second World War.
