Özet:

The miniature drawn by Matrakçı Nasuh, who visited the city in 1535, contains important information about the mon-umental structures and neighborhoods of the city. The texture of the city, understood from both the information that has survived to the present day and the information encountered in historical sources, was matched with the drawings in the miniature to understand the architectural texture in the 16th century. With its drawings reflecting the inner castle, the lower city and the settlements outside the city walls, Bitlis Miniature is an important document reflecting the histori-cal texture by considering the location and structural features. It is seen that the distinctive structures of the inner castle are ignored in the miniature but are processed in detail together with the monumental structures of the lower city. It is understood that the gates opening to the walls of the lower city, consisting of two mosques, a bathhouse, a dervish lodge, trade areas and residences, as well as the bastions and towers on the walls, are processed in detail. Again, the neighborhoods established around the lower city and the monumental structures are processed in the lower part of the miniature outside the city walls. Commercial buildings such as a social complex and a bazaar and an inn depicted with arches are important examples of monumental architecture located outside the city walls, and the houses that form the neighborhoods are also emphasized in miniature in clusters.
