Özet:

The Mamluk State ruled between 1250-1517, centered in Egypt, and played an active role in history in the socio-cultural sense by carrying the traces of the Seljuk State during this time. Sultan Chakmak, who succeeded Sultan Barsbây, established his sovereignty as a result of the allegiance of the state officials and because he was the desired person. After ascending to the throne, Sultan Djakmak ensured stability in the country by suppressing internal rebellions and then fought against non-Muslim elements operating in the Eastern Mediterranean. He organized expeditions especially against the Knights of Rhodes and the Kingdom of Cyprus, but he was not as successful as his predecessor Sultan Barsbây. Nevertheless, his efforts to maintain the Muslim presence in the Eastern Mediterranean inspired the policies of the Ottoman Empire in the following period. Sultan Djakmak also established diplomatic relations with the Muslim states and principalities in the region and engaged in various political relations with the Ottomans, Karamanids, Dulkadirids, Akkoyunids and Karakoyunids. He also conducted diplomacy with Timur and Safavid states and tried to provide support to the Muslims of North Africa and Andalusia. However, during this period, plague epidemics, economic crises and famine were the factors that limited the Mamluk States foreign policy moves. In this study, the balance policy followed by Sultan Djakmak in foreign policy and the reflections of this policy are discussed.
