Özet:

Turkish cinema represents a rich cultural heritage with a deep-rooted past. This journey, which began with the first Turkish film, The Fall of the Russian Monument in Ayastefanos, shot in 1914, has continued to develop over time by incorporating many periods and styles. In this context, the Yeşilçam period, which began in the 1950s, stands out as one of the golden ages of Turkish cinema. This period, full of colorful melodramas, love stories and gripping stories, brought films that brought the popularity of Turkish cinema to the peak. The Yeşilçam period brought a wide audience to cinema with characters and subjects that won the appreciation of the public, and managed to attract the attention of viewers with stories blended with social realities. In the 1990s and 2000s, it continued to create a unique atmosphere with its auteurs who had new narrative styles. This study aims to examine the identity of Reha Erdem as an auteur and evaluate his contributions to the language development of Turkish cinema. In this context, within the framework of Sarriss auteur theory, the films with the highest ratings on IMDb, A Ay 1988, Kaç Para Kaç 1999, Korkuyorum Anne 2004, Beş Vakit 2006, Hayat Var 2008 and Kosmos 2010, are analyzed to address Erdems unique narrative language and cinematic aesthetics. The films, read within the framework of auteur criteria, reveal Erdems contributions to the language formation process of Turkish cinema and reveal that he has created a unique cinematic universe. In this context, the study is aimed to contribute to academic research on cinema and language.
