Özet:

Due to the socio-economic processes in the world and in Turkey, large scale population movements are emerging between cities. These movements have led to unplanned urbanization due to population growth, causing rapid change and often deterioration of urban environments. Furthermore, the quality of urban green spaces has been notably influenced by these ongoing processes. With this study, which aims to discuss the quality of the built environment in Yıldırım district through urban green areas, 69 neighborhoods in Yıldırım were examined in this direction. A landscape inventory was developed by transferring the urban parks to the GIS base. The spatial distribution of the parks in the neighborhood and the amount of green space per capita in the neighborhood were quantitatively revealed. All urban parks in the district were visited and one of them selected to study in the design studio in cooperation with the local government. The relationship between the city and green space in terms of Yıldırım district were discussed in undergraduate and graduate classes. In addition, the service area analysis of the green areas in Yıldırım district was evaluated. The results obtained were discussed with the local government and suggestions were developed for the qualified natural environment in the context of urban parks in Yıldırım District.
