Özet:

The madrasahs, one of the important educational institutions of the Ottoman Empire, began to deteriorate in the historical process, the students studying there were also affected and turned to non-educational activities. These rebellions were suppressed by the state, and those who participated in these movements were punished. The rebellion that broke out during the reign of Sultan Abdulmecid is noteworty in terms of the first example of the 19th century rebellions and influencing subsequent rebellion movements. The madrasah rebellion during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid emerged under the influence of various internal and external factors. While factors such as the struggle for power between statesmen and the deterioration of the socio-economic situation of madrasah students constituted the internal dynamics of the rebellions, the Ottoman-Russian wars repeated in the 19th century and the Russias attempts to intervene in the internal affairs of the state constituted the external dynamic of the rebellion. In this study, the Russian factor in the rebellion is discussed. Ottoman-Russian political relations, the way these relations were perceived by madrasah students and the effects of anti-Russian sentiment on the rebellion, has been tried to be examined by document analysis method and also in the study primary sources such as the Presidential Archive, official publications, the press of the period, as well as Russian sources in the context of reflecting the approach of the other side to the study has been used.
