Özet:

Melancholy is an important topic in medical and psychological research, and the study of this mood, which leaves deep traces in a persons inner world, is crucial. In psychiatry, melancholy is considered a subtype of depressive disorders. It is analyzed from a psychodynamic perspective through the works of psychoanalysts, such as Sigmund Freud, Melanie Klein and Julia Kristeva. In the literary world, melancholy is a powerful theme that is often used to express the characters inner conflicts. This study examines the themes of love, loss and melancholy in the novels Münevver and Ölmüş Bir Kadının Evrak-ı Metrukesi by Güzide Sabri Aygün within a psychoanalytical framework. The characters in these works experience deep grief due to the loss of their loved ones. They suffer from mental and physical anxiety influenced by melancholy, a condition that affects both their mental and physical well-being. In addition, they show a desire to escape space and time and seek refuge in imaginary worlds and different temporal and spatial environments due to their dissatisfaction with the present reality. The study of melancholic themes in literary works emphasizes the significance of understanding peoples inner worlds and grasping human psychology in depth and highlights the interaction between literature and psychology. Güzide Sabris early novels eloquently portray the melancholy that arises from a sense of loss and offer the reader the opportunity to understand peoples inner conflicts and fears through literary expression.
