Özet:

The aim of this study is to identify the monumental olive trees, determine their physical properties, map their distribution, find their estimated ages and register them as monumental trees in Akhisar Manisa district. Initially, a literature review was conducted to support the study. Then, the distribution of olive groves within Akhisar district was mapped. Field studies followed, where observations study and measurements were recorded on pre-prepared information forms. Data on each identified olive trees location, variety, trunk height measured at 130 cm above ground, and root circumference at ground level were documented, along with photos of each tree. Age ring samples were taken from the olive trees. The collected data were then processed in MS Excel to estimate the ages of the trees. As a result, 145 monumental and protected olive trees were identified within Akhisar district, with the potential for more to be found in future field studies. A report was submitted to the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Natural Assets Branch Directorate for the registration of these identified trees. The monumental olive tree groves located in the villages of Sindelli and Medar hold particular significance for the history of olive cultivation in the region. Identifying monumental olive trees with such characteristics and including them in ecotourism activities will support tree conservation and sustainable development efforts.
