Özet:

This study will focus on the Peoples Houses, one of the most important institutions founded in the early Republican period to ensure the adoption of radical transformations by the public and to educate the public in this direction; and on the concept of the Turkish Revolution, which was created to legitimise these transformations. The Turkish Revolution is a conceptualization that describes the one-party regime, ideology and policies established by the will that ensured the independence of the country after the First World War and subsequently created the Republic of Turkey. Peoples Houses were established in 1932 as an organization of the Republican Peoples Party RPP and are a set of cultural and social institutions that are not state institutions but are fully controlled by the single party rule. This network, which spread throughout the country over time, is a political formation in which the state disciplines and controls society, creates a secular modern individual and a new society through the ideology of Kemalism. The journals of the Peoples Houses, which engaged in numerous cultural and social activities and played a crucial role in conceptualizing, theorizing, and explaining the Turkish Revolution to the public, were their most significant tools. Each Peoples House publishes its own journal. Afyon Peoples House issues a journal called Taşpınar. This study analyses the contexts and arguments through which the concept of the Turkish Revolution was reproduced in the provinces in the context of the Afyon Peoples House journal Taşpınar. According to the conclusion drawn from the Taşpınar example, the theorization and debates produced in the centre are recirculated in provincial journals, partly in new contexts and debates, in a vulgarised form through Kemalist elites in the provinces.

Her Halkevi kendi dergisini yayınlar.
