Özet:

After the 1st World War, the lands of the Ottoman Empire began to be occupied by the Entente States. The National Struggle, which became stronger in Anatolia especially after the occupation of Izmir, increased its influence after Mustafa Kemal Pashas arrival in Samsun. The orders given by Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the protest of the occupations by the people with rallies were not welcomed by the British and the Istanbul Government. As a result, Mustafa Kemal Pasha, who was called back to Istanbul and who had fallen out with the Istanbul Government because he did not listen to them, was faced with the decisions of dismissal, resignation and arrest after he prevented the British forces that attempted to land troops in Samsun on 5 July 1919. In this article, after Mustafa Kemal Pashas arrest, the news about him in the Istanbul press in August 1919 were followed. In addition, some columns written about him were also evaluated. In this way, how the development of the events was reported during this organisation phase of the National Struggle and how the arrest of Mustafa Kemal Pasha was viewed, especially the criticisms of the newspapers that opposed the Anatolian movement at that time, were evaluated by reflecting from the newspapers.
